A powerful text that fights against oblivion, amnesia and Holocaust denial, to leave room for the transmission of memory.
The novel was originally written by Algerian writer Boualem Sansal, and published in 2008, winning numerous literary prizes. Inspired by a true story about a place nicknamed "The Village of the German", it tells the story of Rachel and Malrich, two brothers born to an Algerian mother and a German father.
In 1994, the GIA massacred part of the population of the village of Aïn Deb, near Sétif, where their parents lived.
