Êkhô Ch?ur de Chambre is a young professional a cappella ensemble based in Montpellier. 24 singers explore the Northern European repertoire, whose composers, drawing on a choral tradition developed over generations, write for the choir using all the richness and dynamics of the sung voice.
This program is an initiatory journey to the crossroads between the ethereal sounds of Arvo Pärt, the improvisational games of Gunnar Eriksson, the haunting dissonant sounds of Knut Nystedt, and the generous polyphony of Lauridsen or Sibelius. All you have to do is close your eyes, and you'll see the Aurora Borealis?
Bringing strong musical emotions to a wide range of audiences, through the beauty of the voices and the repertoire, is the vocation of the ch?ur, inscribed in its name: Êkhô, Greek for "to make resound, to make resonate".
