Among Languedoc's IGP wines, those of the Hérault are probably the best known.
Pays d'Hérault is an appellation of the Languedoc wine region. The wines benefit from a Mediterranean climate, with shale, marl, limestone and molasse soils.
The Pays d'Hérault holds the IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée), a homogenised European qualification, which replaced the well known "Vin De Pays" in 2009.
